WEN Conditioner: A review

Hey, hey, hey! It's been awhile I know, but I figured now would be a great time to return before QVC has another TSV with Chaz Dean and his WEN products. So now you can be somewhat informed if you've been on the fence about whether to purchase WEN for the first time.

I ordered the Today's Special Value last year from QVC and I had it set-up on auto delivery. It was the gallon WEN conditioners and I ordered the kids Strawberry-Banana scent and the Fig for myself since it's described as being created for color treated hair, which is what I have. One thing to keep in mind if you decide to order the gallon size and choose auto delivery, if you're ordering a scent that you've never tried before or you're like me and forget to return within the 30 days policy that QVC has you can't change to a different scent for the next shipment. The only thing you can do is cancel the next shipment.

I'll review the Fig first: from watching the presentations the claim is you won't have to color your hair as often and that the color you have will last longer, but this wasn't true for me. My...ahem gray hair...started popping up as though I were using my shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair as per usual. Fig is also a very strong scent! If you have a small bathroom/shower and you enjoy your showers steamy this may cause a problem, also the directions say to use it once (cleanse), rinse and repeat and the second time you should leave it in your hair while you finish the rest of your shower and then rinse your hair at the end. With the Fig this isn't the ideal way to do it, especially if you have a steamy shower going. The conditioner starts to run and also scents the bathroom so it can really sting your eyes along with taking your breathe away. After much trial and error I was able to get the right temp so this wouldn't happen as often. I also started mixing the Strawberry-Banana conditioner with my Fig and that helped as well. There also seems to be a different consistency between the gallon conditioner and the 16 oz bottle. For some reason the 16 oz. looks and feels creamier than what comes out of the gallon. I  have a gallon left of the Fig, but I'm keeping it as a back-up and also to give to friends and family that may want to try it out before taking the plunge.

The Strawberry-Banana for Kids is wonderful! My son loves it and my husband has also started sneaking some of his conditioner when he takes a shower. In my opinion it has a Wrigley's Juicy Fruit scent to it, probably another reason why I mixed it into my Fig conditioner for my second cleansing. It doesn't hurt his eyes at all and since he's a boy he only uses one pump and rinses at the end of his shower. lol

After using the first gallon of Fig I've come to the conclusion that I won't order the Fig anymore no matter the size and unless I can change my scents when the gallon TSV comes around again I highly doubt I'll be ordering that again either. But I will order the Seasonal Cleansing Conditioners once they're made available in the Fall (I used auto delivery so I'm expecting a second shipment). The seasonal conditioners come in a set of 5 16 oz. bottles and have different scents. Depending on your hair length (mine is above my shoulders) a bottle can last you a month to a month and a half, so if I'm timing this correctly by the time I'm finished with the second set, QVC will have it available again.

My fave of the seasonal set, so far, is Fall Apple Spice. OMG! I'm in love with this scent, it is delectable I'm telling you and for all you Southern women, once the heat finally hits and we start to sweat glisten, when your head and hair begin to glisten you will smell delish! I didn't care for the White Cranberry Mint. The mint part was too over powering in the shower for me, similar to the Fig. There's also a problem with being able to pump out the conditioner when you near the bottom of the bottle, so what I've done is kept the cap that comes with the bottle and once I've reached the point that the conditioner doesn't dispense as usual I put the cap back on so I can put the bottle upside down so that the conditioner is now at the top of the bottle and I can squeeze it out. This also happens with the gallon bottle, but with that one I used a funnel and put the remaining conditioner into travel size bottles.

I hope this helps anyone that was wondering about the WEN conditioners and whether it was right for them. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.

Thanks for stopping by!
